Gamescom 2022’s opening featured a surprise announcement from Funcom of a new survival MMO set in the Dune universe. The setting takes inspiration from both Frank Herbert’s novels and Denis Villeneuve’s film, and the gameplay will combine the exploration and creativity of survival crafting and open-world games with the persistent multiplayer that is featured in popular MMOs.

Bungie hosted its third annual Destiny 2 Showcase on Tuesday, coinciding with the start of its newest season, the pirate-themed Season of Plunder. The showcase featured information about the new season’s rewards and activities, the reveal of the next expansion called Lightfall, the game’s arrival on the Epic Games Store, and a crossover event with Epic’s Fortnite featuring new skins for both games.
