European market report: Growing revenues, growing workforce and older gamers – GamesIndustry.biz

A new report from Video Games Europe shows revenues increased to €24.5 billion in 2022, with unit sales topping 40 million and industry employment rising to 110,000 personnel. Surprisingly, older gamers aged 45–64 make up the largest share of the audience in Europe, with highest growth of any age demographic.

On Wednesday, Epic Games announced the First Run program, intended to allow developers to keep 100% of their launch sales revenues on the Epic Games Store for six months in exchange for exclusivity during that period. The agreement also includes additional perks, including exclusive badges, prominent store placement, and participation in advertising campaigns.

Microsoft signs 15-year cloud streaming deal with Ubisoft in latest bid to win Activision Blizzard approval – VentureBeat.com

In further efforts to tame UK regulators’ monopoly fears, Microsoft has entered into a 15-year deal to transfer cloud streaming rights for Call of Duty and other Activision Blizzard games to Ubisoft. That action will ensure that Microsoft is not in a position to exclusively release future Activision Blizzard games on the Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming service or control the licensing for them on competing cloud services.
