Negotiations have broken down between Blizzard and their Chinese publisher, NetEase. Several of Blizzard’s titles will soon cease new sales in China. Blizzard has the option to start negotiations with a different partner, but game titles will “need to re-enter the approval process” with the new publisher.

In efforts to reduce “disruptive behaviors,” Ubisoft and Riot Games are testing out AI technology to help monitor in-game communication. Initially, the “Zero Harm in Comms” project will be studying if usable data can be collected while still protecting player privacy. In the second phase, the project will focus on the use of “natural language processing” for detection instead of the “dictionary-based technologies” currently available.
